Walnut Cookies (HK Style)


  • 150g Butter
  • 250g Self-Raising Flour
  • 80g Caster Sugar
  • 80g Roasted Walnuts
  • 1 Egg


  • Preheat oven at 180°C
  • Sift Flour into a large mixing bowl then add cubes of Butter and Sugar. Use a fork to combine all
  • Add in the coarsely / finely (Your preference) grind Walnuts Mix well until the dough becomes not sticky and smooth
  • Use a tablespoon to scoop out a portion of the dough. Roll the dough into a ball size. Use your finger to make a small dent. (For cracking lines effect)
  • Place the ball onto a lighlty floured parchment paper (Leave a gap between the cookies for expansion when baking)
  • Beat the Egg with a pinch of Salt added. Spread the Egg mixture with a brush onto the cookies
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes
  • Once done, leave on a rack to cool. Cookies must be kept in an air tight jar for taste of freshness
